WELCOME TO THE TRIP!
You are booking your travels with Kim Bannister of Kamzang Journeys, a USA registered LLC company. Kamzang Journeys is based in Kathmandu, Nepal in the spring and autumn seasons, and in Leh, Ladakh, India during the summer season. Our primary address is Lazimpat, Kathmandu, Nepal. Kamzang Journeys works together with Khumbu Adventures in Nepal, and other reputable locally-based companies in India, Bhutan, Tibet and Myanmar. We also employ individual guides and staff members, employed either full time or on an individual trip basis.
It is a fundamental condition of booking that you acknowledge that this is an adventure trek, bicycle trip or heritage tour. All trips in these Himalayan regions requires some flexibility, and you may be exposed to risks greater than in everyday life. You must sign the Waiver & Release as part of the booking process, and will be bound by the conditions of these Terms & Conditions.
TRIP BOOKING REQUIREMENTS
DEPOSIT of $750 or $1000
WAIVER & RELEASE
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT (check the box on the bottom of the Booking Form) that you have read, agreed to and understood the terms and conditions of the Waiver & Release.
PAYMENT SCHEDULE
DEPOSIT | Due 90 days before the start of trip (unless booking last minute, which is generally not a problem)
BALANCE PAYMENT | Full balance payment due 60 days before the start of trip.
PAYMENT NOTE | The payee is responsible for all banking fees from their end, including middle bank fees. Kamzang Journeys absorbs banking fees on the receiving end but only records the payment received.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We STRONGLY advise purchasing TRIP (TRAVEL) INSURANCE along with the required TRAVEL MEDICAL INSURANCE when booking a trip in case of changes in plans, family or personal emergencies or medical issues. We almost never cancel a trip, but in certain circumstances such as last minute cancellations by trip members, unstable political situations or other natural disasters beyond our control, we may be forced to cancel a trip. Our refund and cancellation policies below. Note that we are lenient with our refund policy as our aim is to keep you as a client on another one of our live-changing trips, and we often roll over deposits or payments to other trips, or other years …
TRIP CANCELLATION
+ FULL REFUND if trip is cancelled at least 3 months prior to start of trip MINUS any costs incurred (flight cancellation, permit, hotel, and/or banking fees, and turning other clients away from a full trip).
+ 50% REFUND if trip is cancelled 1 month prior to start of trip (same conditions)
+ NO REFUND if trip is cancelled within 1 month of the start of the trip (same conditions)
Kamzang Journeys never plans to cancel any trek, bicycle trip or heritage tour, but reserves the right to do so due to unusual or unforeseeable circumstances or circumstances that might affect our ability to manage risks including, but not limited to, natural disaster, political unrest, political border closures or war. IF Kamzang Journeys deems it neccessary to cancel the trip due to one of the above reasons, we will refund payments made to us minus the deposit and any costs incurred (flight cancellations, permits, etc). Deposits can be transferred to another trip, either during the same year or another year. IF Kamzant Journeys offer an alternative trek, tour or bicycle trip and you choose not to join, we reserve the right to keep the trip deposit (but again, we are lenient with returning deposits). Kamzang Journeys shall not be liable to refund any additional expenses that you may have incurred (such as insurance, visas, vaccinations or other incidental costs).
TRAVEL MEDICAL & TRAVEL INSURANCE
MEDICAL CHECK-UP & DOCTOR’S RECOMMENDATION NOTE
Before joining the trip we REQUIRE that the traveler has current travel medical insurance that includes trekking, cycling or travel over 4000 meters (10,000 feet). We STRONGLY advise additionally purchasing travel insurance. The insurance should include adequate cover for baggage, medical expenses, cancellation, helicopter evacuation and emergency repatriation. We require that all travelers have a current COMPLETE MEDICAL CHECK-UP with a doctor’s recommendation letter. All travelers over 60 years of age are REQUIRED to have a current cardiac examination with exercise treadmill stress test included. You can get this test done quickly and inexpensively in Kathmandu or India if you are unable to get the treadmill stress test done in your own country in time for the trip.
The trek information web pages give information and conditions relating to the tour and are deemed to be part of the contract and so you should be fully aware of their contents. However the itinerary is an indication of what the group should accomplish, but not a contractual obligation. Changes may be made because of exceptional weather, flight cancellations, sickness or other unforeseeable circumstances. No refunds are given for unused services except in special circumstances (discuss with Kim).
All information and advice provided (medical insurance suggestions, vaccinations, climate, trekking equipment, visas etc) is given in good faith but without responsibility by us.
You agree to abide by the authority of the leader, either Kim Bannister or a Sherpa, Nepali or local guide.
If you have a complaint that cannot be dealt with immediately, or you are not satisfied with the response please notify us in writing within 10 days of the tour completion. We shall try to agree on a settlement. This process shall be governed by the laws of the country in which the trip takes place.
Please bring a smile, a sense of awe and adventure, and a curiosity to learn about other cultures and ways of life with you on the trip.
